Anger is a natural part of life and everyone experiences it. Anger responses can vary, and include a calm and rational response, feeling frozen and suppressing feelings, or becoming physical or verbally abusive and having rage.
Anger can be healthy and aid us in human adaptation, however when there is no outlet for anger, or it has been suppressed, it can trigger resentments and/or negative feelings and beliefs. This can lead to dysfunctional anger and unhealthy behaviors to cope with anger.
Through anger management therapy, you can explore your beliefs about anger, recognize triggers for anger, identify how anger effects you and your life, and develop a plan for responding to anger or difficult situations, including relaxation techniques, mindfulness and challenging distorted thoughts.
